Location
The village of  Platanias is located about midway between the Old Town of Rethymnon (5 kms) and the large hotel sites in the villages along the eastern half of the bay.
In the village (5 minutes footwalk) there are tavernas, supermarkets, car and motorbike rentals, bistros, discotheques, exchange offices, and ATM machines.

During the season, an even wider ranging supply of tourism goods and services can be found in the neighbouring village of Adelianos Campos.

Silvi Mari Apartments are located by a side-lane in peaceful, almost rural surroundings, just 50 meters from the sandy beach.
There is an hourly public bus service to Iraklion (80 kms) and Hania (64 kms), as well as to Rethymnon (during the season every 30 minutes).
The bus stop is 200 meters from the house.

Iraklion airport is 85 kms away, Hania aiport 69 kms. With respect to the winding character of the motor highway, transfer times from and to the airports must not be underestimated.
